Precipitation Hardening
Precipitation Hardening
High Strength & Corrosion Resistance via Age Hardening
Also known as age hardening, this multi-step process for PH stainless steels (e.g. 17-4 PH, 15-5 PH) and maraging steels precipitates sub-microscopic intermetallic particles within the metal matrix to develop exceptional yield strength and fatigue limits.
Key Specifications
Predictable Hardening with Near-Zero Volumetric Change
Precipitation hardening is carried out at low aging temperatures (480°C - 620°C), resulting in microscopic dimensional changes and eliminating the scaling associated with traditional liquid quenching.
Specialized Applications
Critical in aerospace fasteners, surgical tools, and marine pump shafts.
Aerospace Structural Pins
17-4 PH landing gear pins, wing flap actuators, and locking collars.
Medical & Surgical Instruments
High-hardness orthopedic drill bits, reamers, and surgical clamps.
Marine & Offshore Pump Shafts
Subsea valve stems, propeller shafts, and chemical pump rotors.
Turbine Blades & Impellers
Centrifugal compressor impellers subjected to high centrifugal stresses.
HRC Hardness & Charpy V-Notch Impact Verification
Verification of H900 / H1075 / H1150 conditions with dual Rockwell hardness checks and sub-zero impact toughness testing.
